SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER

Position: Full time, Permanent

Our client is an award winning Civil and Structural Engineering consultancy, specialising in the design of building structures and the associated civil engineering infrastructure.

They currently have a vacancy for a Senior Civil Engineer experienced in the design of below ground drainage and highways works associated with projects ranging from domestic conversions to new build developments with values in excess of £300 million.

They currently have a team of three full time civil design engineers with a senior engineer based out of our office. They now wish to enhance this capability with a senior engineer based in the office and able to organise, mentor, guide and advise the design engineers in the production of their designs as well as undertaking design work and report writing on their own projects.

Job Description

You will be required to undertake the design and detailing of drainage systems and estate roads up to adoptable standards; the negotiation and completion of the technical aspects of all required Section Agreements for highways and drainage works; the design of Sustainable Urban Drainage systems; compliance with current sustainability requirements, report writing, including Flood Risk Assessments and the supervision of reports and specialist design elements produced by outside consultants.

In addition, you will become the focal point for the in-house Civil Engineering, prioritising workload within the group, undertaking stage checks on the designs being produced and the final check on drawings and designs prior to construction issue.

You will be expected to attend meetings for project civil engineering and to provide written reports to clients and senior management.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will be proficient in the use of AutoCad, Microdrainage and AutoDesk Civils 3D or similar ground modelling packages.

The candidate should have a 10 years UK based civil engineering design experience, be fully technically proficient and have excellent communication skills.

Ideally, you will be a Chartered Engineer or approaching Chartered Status and our client offers training under agreement with the Institution of Civil Engineers to help you achieve chartered status should this be required.
