Our client was founded in 1946 in Nottingham, UK, with the goal to supply laboratory equipment to the local pharmaceutical industry. Today, still family owned and managed, our client is recognised as the world’s leading manufacturer of inhaler test equipment, in addition to being a trusted provider of test instrumentation for other pharmaceutical dosage forms.

Due to their continued success over the years, our client is now looking for an enthusiastic individual to come and join the team.

 

As this is a varied role, you will find yourself assembling company products on-time, to the desired quality standards using documents provided along with being responsible for booking all goods/components into the building and locating into the stores area, as well as being responsible for the safe packing of scientific equipment/spares, ready for shipping all goods out of the building.

Main Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for basic mechanical assembly
  • Responsible for ensuing all products conform to required quality standards
  • Responsible for serialising of products and the entering of product data into serial number database
  • Responsible for printing instruction manuals and documents for release with goods
  • Must ensure correct scanning and archiving of documents electronically
  • Responsible for unpacking, checking quantity/general quality of incoming goods, signing for receipt
  • Inspecting incoming goods and then placing them into stock in a safe manner
  • Operation of fork-lift truck for loading and off-loading goods from delivery lorries in a safe manner
  • Packing sensitive scientific equipment appropriately into cardboard cartons to prevent transport damage
  • Appropriately packing accessories with equipment and labelling cartons depending on destination
  • Preparing despatch checklists, shipping documentation and other paperwork ready for on time shipping
  • Responsible for stock and materials management and carrying out stock counts (when required)
  • Responsible for ensure any non-conforming goods are segregated according to ISO9000 procedure
  • Must be aware of duties relating to Health and Safety and work in a safe manner at all times
  • Responsible for communicating any quality related issues to Line Manager in a timely manner
  • To actively seek Continuous Improvements in all activities carried out
  • Any other duties deemed capable of carrying out by Line Manager

 

Specific Skills, Abilities and Knowledge required for the position:

  • Basic use of measuring equipment (including use of digital micrometer/pressure gauge)
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical procedures (i.e. thread tapping)
  • Capable of working in a busy and hectic working environment
  • Basic computer literacy (i.e. edit/print MS Office word document)
  • Self-starter who is calm under pressure
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others
  • Willing to learn quickly and document their working procedures
  • Able to work alone or as part of a team in a demanding and work intensive environment
  • Meticulous, with good attention to detail
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Must be physically capable of lifting and moving heavy laboratory equipment
  • Counter balance fork truck certificate desirable
  • Confident, flexible and willing to change duties to meet changing demands of the customer
  • Willing and capable of learning new skills

Salary: – £18,000 – £20,000 dependant on skills and experience

Hours:  – 45 p/w Mon-Fri 7.30-16.30 with ½hr lunch
