They are now looking to recruit an Audit and Accounts semi-senior to join their team in Nottingham.  They have many clients in the local community and service businesses, small and large, across many sectors.

Their strengths are their independence; reputation for quality and attention to detail; as well as being competent and reliable business advisors. A progressive practice, they provide a wide range of accounting and financial services to clients throughout a broad range of business situations.

The Position: they are looking for a full time Audit and Accounts semi-senior to work as part of a busy team in providing professional audit, accounting and taxation services to clients.  The role would be suitable for ACA or ACCA trainees with 1-2 years’ experience; or AAT qualified individuals with at least 1 years’ experience in an audit role.

Core hours are between 9am-5.15pm Monday-Friday.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in practice

  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in statutory audit work

  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and an understanding of audit testing and methodology

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Must be IT literate

Desired Requirements:

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel, and experience with Sage products

  • Understanding of business tax and income tax

  • Role requires someone who is well researched, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about this role.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Assisting on site as part of a team with the delivery of statutory audit work predominantly in owner managed businesses, and in the completion of audit files in the office;

  • Preparing accounts for limited companies, either companies being audited, or separately for non-audit engagements;

  • Calculation of other accounting journals including prepayments, accruals and depreciation;

  • Posting entries on to Sage Accounts Production, preparing disclosures as necessary, and generating final sets of accounts for manager review;

  • Preparation of sole trader, partnership and charity accounts;

  • Mentoring and coaching more junior members of staff;

  • Discussing queries and draft accounts with the client;

  • Preparation of corporation tax returns.
